The degrees outside are declining and the knitted sweaters are starting to creep out of storage. Here is your guide to an autumn capsule wardrobe for an “elevated classy” wardrobe with no more than 20 products!

Tops

    1. Bodysuit: When layering and creating versatile looks, this is the winner. For example this goes with any pair of bottoms and can give the illusion of a dress when paired with the pencil skirt. The style can be replaced with whatever suits you best – a t-shirt bodysuit, halterneck, etc.

    1. Plain T-Shirt: It kind of speaks for itself, great for layering in the cold weather and works with just anything.

    1. Turtleneck: A basic colour gives you the most outfit options. Although if you prefer a beige, grey or white rather than the black that is a-ok.

    1. Shirt: A basic shirt is a must to elevate any outfit! Want to make a sweater more business casual? Add the shirt underneath!

    1. Cardigan: Buttoned-up cardigan is a great option when the degrees outside aren’t to be trusted. It can be worn unbuttoned or not but it is a low-commitment item that is also suitable for layering!

    1. Sweater: Sweaters are the symbol of fall and therefore has a sure spot in the capsule wardrobe. Make sure to choose a neutral colour so it can fit to any bottom and top.

    1. Striped Sweater: This adds some fun to the regular sweater, it is still a classic that’ll never go out of style, but it’s more fun than a plain colour.

Bottoms

    1. Pencil Skirt: This skirt is so versatile that it’s a must. Pair it with a bodysuit for a dress-illusion or style it with a sweater for a business-casual look? A mini- or maxi-skirt works just as well but I prefer the midi due to it holding a bit more warmth while not going full winter.

    1. Pants: The choices are broad but I’d advise for a suit pant as it pairs incredibly well with the sweaters while looking classy with the shirts and turtleneck. The colour and shape isn’t as important, find one that you feel comfortable in that suits you, personally I’d go for a cream white or black (perhaps both if the wallet and space allows).

    1. Dark-wash Jeans: Once again the fit of the jeans should be what you feel most confident in but a darker wash is perfect for the darker skies.

    1. Black jeans: Black pair of jeans are crucial, it goes with everything, and works for any everyday look.

Shoes

    1. Boots: Heeled or not, a great pair of boots are great for when the chilly weather arrives. These go with just about anything and don’t be afraid to add some personal touch to these such as a studded pattern or likely.

    1. Loafers: For when the summer heat hasn’t surrendered just yet, these are a very classy option to elevate any outfit as an alternative to sneakers.

    1. Sneakers: We cannot forget about comfort, sneakers will never be thrown out of the closet, at least not in my opinion. For leisure days or dressing down an outfit – sneakers are the way to go. Reflect your personal style, keep them clean, add a bit of colour or go for a neutral mix such as the ones above.

Outerwear

    1. Blazer: A perfect in-between jacket for when the summer heat drops but the winter cold hasn’t striked just yet. Gives any outfit an elevated business touch and has various styles to choose from!

    1. Trenchcoat: The ever-trending trench, I’ll never stop loving these. It makes any outfit look elevated but still cozy, and it sure is to swooping it around you when facing the clouds.

Accessories

    1. Shoulder bag: On to accessories! A smaller bag is a must-have for off-duty hours.

    1. Tote bag: A clean tote bag that can fit everyday items either for work or a whole day of adventures. This should also be of neutral colour to match any outfit combination made with the rest of your capsule wardrobe.
